SS 316 Bars & Rods recognized for the property of more resistant to corrosion than any other alloys. It is recommended for a thermal process, pressure fittings, valves, flanges, and so on. It has the addition of molybdenum to resist pitting in chloride comprising atmosphere and to crevice corrosion. SS 316 Bars & Rods have a passive layer on the surface to resist corrosion attacks in water-based media or oxidizing environments. It is found in an appliance where salt and bleach present in the media, but it is not rust-proof and not suitable for welding.
SS 316L Bars & Rods appliance found in down to cryogenic temperature. It has excellent long-lasting durability and weldability. Its microstructure of nickel associated with chromium provides superior tensile strength, corrosion resistance, stress to rupture characteristics. SS 316 Bars & Rods is suitable for a water-based environment such as blackish and saline water, and it has a passive layer to resist crevice corrosion also. But, it is not recommended in media where it can expose to pitting corrosion.
